We die little by little- by Nicolae Geantă

We die little by little- by Nicolae Geantă.

I was telling the church last night that spiritual apathy is characterized by indifference, go-by and laodicean, lukewarm condition. Twin, paired, they have a unique trajectory: heart's death. No in one moment, but slowly-slowly. We die little by little. We die little by little when we become slaves of habitude, following the same ways everyday. We die little by little when we do not change our existence, when we do not refresh our soul. When we do not want to build something new ...

We die little by little in each day we pass near someone whom we do not speak to, even if we know him. And we die little by little when we do not forgive... Hate is the bullet that infallibly kills. Especially that who fires it!

We die little by little when we avoid passion. When we rather prefer a service made of embers than one made of fire. Not only in churches, not only to pulpits, but also at work, school or home. With no passion our eyes can not shine. And love becomes siccative.

We die little by little when we do not educate our children anymore, when we let them to feed themselves from TV. We die little by little when Facebook is our guru. When Instagram is an idol. Or, like one pastor said:"when we expect death to come while we're sitting in the front of TV with cat in our arms. " Thus, like mister Pleșu was saying: " we have an existential life of kiosk.": we only offer and provide information. And the sunrise, the game of stars and the symphony of cicadas dissapeared long time ago from pastel...

"He dies little by little, who does give up on a proiect before he starts it; he who does not ask because he is afraid of not getting embarrassed and he who does not answer even if he knows the question." wrote the brazilian Marta Medeiros. But also those who pass mournfully through a flower garden...

We die little by little in the morning when we wake up thinking about coffee, about the fridge, about what we should have in our pots, but not about prayer. Bread saturates us for a while, but the Bread of Heaven saturates us forever!

We die little by little when we do not have dreams; when we give up on not even started projects;  when we hide the talent within us; when we do not read; when we do not learn any new song-what if we fail trills (?); when we listen no advice that asks for our conscientiousness. We die little by little when we do not accept the help of extended hands and when we refuse the nailed hands from Golgotha!

You could say that body dies little by little everyday. You are right. But soul should freshen! Wouldn't you like to dress it up with Christ?
